LUKE 10:18 "Jesus said unto them, I saw Satan as lightning fall from Heaven." Any person who has read much in the bible will conclude that God is Almighty and there is nothing He can't do. Over the past month, families across Texas have readied their children for the new school year. Supplies and back-to-school clothes have been bought. Fall sports and marching band practice are well underway. And many students are already hard at work on nightly homework assignments. While our students might have their sights set on next week’s football game or an upcoming science project, as a nation, we must focus on the overall preparedness of young Americans to be the leaders, think ...

Do you have a child who doesn’t eat a certain food? That is actually a pretty common event. What should you do? Keep offering the food often as they can change their mind pretty quickly. Trying new foods helps a child develop their taste preferences. Parents shouldn’t force children to eat all of a new food, or to clean their plate.

Webster defines frustration as "prevent from succeeding." Have you ever been frustrated? You cut back on the amount of food you eat, don’t eat any sweets, exercise some and get on the scales and there is very little change. You are frustrated because the weight does not come off quickly (I speak from experience). You have a child that you have told over and over the way something is to be done.

69 Years Ago - October 2, 1941 It has been brought to the writer's attention that Mrs. Lee Oliver of Pecan Grove "achieves much" in Red Cross work. She completes a dozen or eighteen Red Cross garments each week. There is grief this week in many San Saba homes, among children and grown-ups as well, for some heartless dog-poisoner has killed a large number of beloved pets in San Saba by hurtling small portions of highly poisoned meat into yards ...

Angels are messengers with a clear job description. They are "ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation" (Hebrews 1:14). The devil tried to tempt Jesus with the ministry of angels. He took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple, told Him to jump, and quoted from Psalm 91.

Ask the Experts Set and Enforce Family Rules My teenage son thinks I’m so unfair because I try to set and enforce rules like a reasonable curfew or no going out on school nights. He always argues that none of his friends’ parents set rules. Am I being too strict? At some point in our youth, most of us tried to extend our curfew or get out of a chore by saying, "Well, so-and-so’s parents don’ ...

Change — some people dread it, and others can’t get enough. It may be much like the idiom, "One man’s trash is another man’s treasure." When it comes to what we would alter or why we would make a modification, the answers vary because we all have different things we value, want, need and consider important. Unlike some empty nesters, I’m one of those who can’t get enough change.

September 27, 2010 - I had an ‘ah-ha moment last week that I wanted to share with you. Picture this…usually it is about 6:45 am, I am headed to the office on an ordinary day and this is what I find on my way to work: students lined up at the door of Middle School waiting to go to drivers ed class and students going into the High School cafeteria with laptops in tow to have breakfast and complete their homework.
