For nearly forty years, oil rigs have been safely drawing natural resources from the depths of the earth’s crust in the Gulf of Mexico. Up until the tragic explosion on the Deepwater Horizon in April, oil and gas development off the Gulf Coast has been conducted without major incident. The resulting oil spill and the response by both the administration and the companies involved have justifiably frustrated many who are concerned about the environmental and economic impacts.

We are good at playing games. Sometimes we might not even be aware of it, but we are. Consider two children who are passing a ball around in the house. On one of the throws, there is a crash. When they look, there is a new lamp that is lying in pieces on the floor.

But when a chaotic hurricane evacuation lands her in Daily, Texas, she begins to think twice about her way faring existence. And when she meets hometown boy Kemp Eldridge, she can almost picture settling down in Daily, until she discovers he may be promised to someone else.

People inevitably have questions. Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Some scientists, the X-Files, and movies like Mission to Mars tell us we descended from aliens. As far as these folks are concerned, the thought of God is alien.
Oddly, these individuals often long to penetrate the supernatural.

Bad Bob’s Store reports that the fishing has been really good of late. Nice yellow catfish have been brought by the store. It is reported that they are baiting trot-lines with goldfish and carp. If fishing with rod and reel use night crawlers, stink bait or cut bait. To see the actual pictures of some of the catches go to Bad Bob’s web site.

Four decades have passed since Andy Warhol said it: "In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes." When a renowned artist whose "Eight Elvises" painting fetches $100 million makes such a statement, he has the world’s eye—and ear.
As to the colorful figure’s prediction, Warhol was wrong—by more than 15 minutes, it should be added—but his observation is not wasted.
Hordes of people are striving daily to slice their slivers of the sp ...

Well, spring vanished and summer arrived with a swoosh! So did my granddaughters, Danielle and Sarah. We spent a good day at the city pool. I bumped into several of my students enjoying the cool of the pool. Sarah and I squeezed our way into a volleyball game with a bunch of friendly men and their families.

Texas pride. There is nothing quite like it, and often that pride comes from tradition and ties to the land. For 75 years, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has helped Texas farmers and ranchers protect their property and has given them something of which to be proud.
Born out of the adversity and anguish of the Dust Bowl, NRCS has a long and distinguished place in Texas history.

They are a sight to see as they run behind his pickup following him. He can call to them and here they come a running. Sometimes he even takes them for rides in the back of his pickup and they are happy to ride in the back, anyway they do not jump out.

MATTHEW 13:31-32 "And Jesus said, The Kingdom of Heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field: Which is indeed the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof."
Jesus spoke this parable to His disciples when they were trying to decide what to do about the tares that were found among the good they had sown.

Well it has been a steady week and we are staying up with calls so far. The number of call’s for service have increased both in the county and in the city. It is very important to remember that even though your call is important, all calls have to be prioritized as to when they came in and what type of call it is.

It was 1928 when Trudy and Harry Liles looked at their family of five and decided that one more child might be nice. Little did they know that God had other plans. Remember, things were different back in 1928. Many women had their children at home, expectant moms didn’t know the baby’s gender and there was no way to tell if the baby was developing normally.

Shaw & I spotted a Lightening bug in their back yard last week as we were sitting out on the porch. I’ve heard that some folks refer to them as"fire flies," but that doesn’t sound quite as nice to me. Anyhow, Momma usually said that following the Scissortail’s coming back, that Lighteningbug’s appearance was a show of summer being here.
