We have the same old story, weatherwise, up our way, still dry. The skies are cloudy and misty but nothing to measure, so far.
We had a good visit with Wilma Lee and her daughter, Nancy, last Thursday at Hair It Is. Wilma felt well enough to come in for a permanent.

Dear Editor & San Saba County Residents,
We recently completed a 1321 acre prescribed burn at Colorado Bend State Park. I would like to thank our neighboring landowners and county residents for their support during the burn. During this period of prolonged drought, the prescribed fire has helped make the park safer by reducing wildfire danger, and has also improved habitat by reducing cedar and restoring native grasses to the area.
Thank you again for your support, and if you are in the area, ...

The weather has been nice with the exception of no rain, and we have been running and gunning all across the county. We have made numerous arrests, transported prisoners and continued on with our construction at the jail. The deputies have now moved in on the east side of the court house and are working out of that office.

Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.
We are a nation that has forgotten our God and our Christian heritage. God was expelled from our public school system in 1961 simply because atheist Madelyn Murray O'Hare was offended and the Supreme Court was gutless.

Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners like you and me! He came to save men and women from eternal death in hell, to grant them forgiveness, to wash away their guilt, and to lead these same men and women on the path to heaven. And He says, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

The clouds were thick Monday morning and offered the possibility of rain, but all that was received in the morning was a little thin mist not even enough to show on the ground. It was very cool, down in the 50’s and supposed to warm up by Tuesday. The weather has even fooled some of the trees, as some are putting on little green leaves.

Praise the Lord we managed to see a little rain out of those massive clouds that came through Monday night. The winds were horrendous! My students were telling me tales of lost shingles, sheds and miscellaneous articles flying away. We have a shed in which we keep our bird food, and it was tipped over on its side.

Pictured here is the first San Saba Lady Dillos to win District. It was the team of 1957. San Saba only began basketball in 1953 and it was half court, women are the weaker sex. My, how things have changed. This team faced Gatesville for Bi-District in Lampasas, Texas. Most of this information is from my sister, Jackie Owen Maxcey, who was on that infamous team.

News from San Saba ISD Superintendent, Leigh Ann Glaze
In my column last week, I asked for your support of our coaches and girls basketball team as we head to the playoffs. I would like to expand on that topic just a bit to ensure that our team has an equal opportunity headed into the playoff.
Fan and crowd control is a tough subject, but as we head to the playoff scene with unknown referees, opponents and fans, our self-control becomes ever so important.
