AMOS 4:6-12 "Also I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities. And lack of bread in all your places; yet you have not returned to Me," says the LORD. I also withheld rain from you, when there was still three months to the harvest. I made it rain on one city, I withheld rain from another city.

I apologize for missing last week, if you’ve ever moved you know how easy it is to lose work in progress. But I have located it and am ready to start on the series that will give parents, caregivers, and other adults suggestions on how to help children cope with the effects of disaster, as well as how to be prepared before a disaster strikes.
Children can feel very frightened during a disaster and afterwards some children will show temporary changes of behavior.

I was sitting at the table the other day and looked into the china cabinet. On the bottom shelf there is a silver tea set I bought my wife years ago. When I first looked at it, I did not recognize it. Instead of being silver it has tarnished and turned a different color.

Today was the traditional Ground Hog Day and, since it was clear just about everywhere, I assume he “saw his shadow”. According to the old saying, we will have six more weeks of winter weather. It’s been over two months with no rain. We had just a trace of moisture in last weeks’ icy spell.
This begins another new month.

It appears that we might be looking at another month to 6 weeks of winter, that is, if one might put any faith in the factor of that fat lil’ Groundhog up in Pennsylvania knowing anything at all. It would be safe to say that Puxatawnie Phil might have a better idea than Rusty of Waco or ol’ Baldy down in Austin.

It was announced that the devil would offer his tools for sale.
He attractively displayed Deceit, Envy, Hatred, Lust and Malice. But a harmless-looking, more expensive, and much-worn tool was laid to one side.
"Why?" asked a follower.
"That's Discouragement," said the devil. "It's priced higher because it's more useful. I can get inside a man's heart with it when I can't get near him with the others."
Discouragement...it's ingratitude for God's goodness and indifference to God's power.

Most of us have been taught, or at least we have come to believe, there are no absolute moral standards. Contrary to this, as strange as it seems, there is one unbreakable rule. We must not impose our own morality upon others. As a result, folks caught up in modern life find it almost impossible to define sin.

The news from around the Bend was as plentiful as the rain has been this past week. There have been no reports of anyone being in the hospital. A few that have had whatever has been going around, but all well now. Maybe everyone around here is just too darn ornery to get sick, which may be a good thing.

Another month has zipped by without a whisper of rain. Well, perhaps a whisper, we did have a little ice on the trees. We are definitely on the crucial side of needing water. We need to get together a multi-church prayer meeting and beg God for rain. I’m hearing farmers and ranchers worry their way through water and grass issues everywhere I go.

We had been talking about it all week and there were various phone conversations going on about it. Which house would we go to and who would be there and what food would each individual cook or bring. The youth group from another Church was going to have their Sunday night Bible study early so they could be there.

Each year at this time, school districts set out to devise a school calendar for the coming school year. You may think to yourself, what is the big deal about devising a school calendar?
The process is very difficult and takes a great deal of input and consideration. Consider this, if San Saba ISD has approximately 700 students, multiply that by 2 parents who work two different jobs and have very regimented schedules, then that is 1400 adults who will be impacted by the school calendar.

The products are widely available, inexpensive, easy to conceal and legal. Most users do not realize how dangerous inhalants can be. Many young people start because they don’t think these substances can hurt them. Once hooked, they find it a tough habit to break.
Who is at risk for using inhalants?
Inhalants are second only to marijuana in terms of adolescent drug use, and all kids are at risk.
