All across America, people of all ages are seeking ways to express their support for those ideals and values on which our country was founded. What better way to accomplish this than for you and your family to attend a Veterans Day program held in your local community? During these uncertain times it can serve as an inspiration for children especially to learn of the importance of Veterans Day and the sacrifices made by our brave veterans who fought and died so we may live in a free country.

When I started driving as a teenager there were signs that told you to turn your “lights on when raining.” Although we have not had much rain around here, sometimes it can rain and when it does it pours down! Other cars need to know there is someone else on the road.
|
We have had absolutely no rain in the past three weeks. We received 2.5 in October compared to 1.8 in October last year. We are now up to 17.3 for the year and we had received 43.9 at this time last year. There is no rain in the forecast any time soon.

If you might have happened to have been in Town sometime Saturday, you would have been reminded of the activity around the Square & Downtown area during the Good ol’ Days of the fifties & early 60’s. There surely was lots of folks hustling & bustling all over our fair Valley of the Pecan.

The sad news is about UT losing the football to Texas Tech in Lubbock Saturday. It was a good game and a close game. Jerome and Shirley Meischen are still proud of their grandson Blake Gideon and will still be cheering the team on at their next game.

Another breathtaking week under our belt! The race for year’s end is in full throttle and time is winning out! Can you believe we have less than sixty days until Christmas! I figure I must be old because they say time goes faster when you’re old. I don’t know what happened to this year but I’d like some of it back!
Our weather has been just about perfect.

Our church is praying for a young man who needs a heart transplant. His heart is diseased and unless he gets a new heart he will die. His problem reminds me of a problem that we all face in life and it is a problem with our spiritual heart. There are many passages in the Bible that talks about this heart and the different problems it can have.
