The words caffeine and energy seem to go hand-in-hand. If you count on that kick from your caffeine-loaded beverage to jump start your day or help with brain fog, you can find it just as easily in food. Now you can have an oatmeal breakfast such as Morning Spark-a health food typically promoted for heart health-that “sparks” your morning with caffeine.

One aspect of this season that has remained relatively constant for the past few weeks is that summer is certainly still with us. We did have a couple of slightly cooler afternoons in the early part of last week as some scattered thundershowers & cloud cover did drop the mercury a bit at most stations. I heard from down around the Colony that the three subsequent showers did total to nearly a half inch of moisture and Holland Hill turned in a report of over an inch for yesterday’s rain.

Dear Editor: In just two short weeks, several of us have had the opportunity to witness much kindness and generosity. After finding out that my son's very best friend, Jessica Estrada, has bone cancer, I was devastated to say the least, as was my little boy, Kadyn. This beautiful little tomboy, full of life and never sits still, will now be confined to a chair, couch or bed for who knows how long .

Since I had the accident on my bicycle I have had certain limitations on what I can do. It is not easy trying to do things with only one good arm. I’m not complaining. It would not do me any good or make my arm heal any faster so I’ll just make the most of it and use this as a learning experience.

Still hot as blue blazes, and still watching the sky and praying for rain, as it is needed. The stock tanks are not dry, but will be before long if the rain doesn’t come soon. A news flash, it is raining at 3:40 p.m. Monday, but doesn’t look to be any thing but a summer shower with thunder and lightening. The wedding celebration for R.J.

I hope everyone’s week is going well. I’ve looked at my thermometers several times in disbelief, but they seem to be reading properly. Sunday, I was sure someone poured hot water on the silly thing, even in the shade it was reading 108! I’m not too sure about the egg on the rock, but I’ll bet if you put a clean sheet of metal outside, you could cook yourself up an egg in no time at all.
