Please note that San Saba County, along with most of its neighboring counties, is still under a burn ban and will remain so until we receive significant and county wide rainfall. We wish that there was a way to lift the ban for short periods in response to small amounts of precipitation that offer short windows of opportunity for safe burning but that is not possible.
There are outdoor burns such as for planting or harvesting, burns under a certified prescribed burn manager, and firefighter tr ...

Its been said that there is nothing like the heart of a volunteer. Those dedicated to service above self, with the willingness to step up and make a committment which includes hours of training, classroom review, repeated hands on in specialty techniques and written testing, and most of all the choice to fill a 12 hour shift and assist in providing a necessary service.

Monday morning everyone near the Bend woke up to a cloudy damp morning and light mist. Sunday it was freezing cold with a brisk wind which made it feel colder than it really was. When you see the weather conditions that are going on around other parts of the country, the weather here doesn’t seem so bad after all.
The electricity went off on the San Saba side of the Colorado river in Bend Monday morning about 6:00 a.m., and didn’t come back on until 8:00 a.m.

If you’re tired of hearing about losing weight, you’re not alone. Magazines, newspapers and television are bombarding us with dieting options.
It’s amazing that this same scenario happens every year. The holidays arrive. We’re surrounded by tempting tidbits. We busy ourselves with pre-and post-holiday activities instead of exercise. We indulge ourselves.
What’s the solution?

We have had a little hint of rain but nothing measurable so far in January. Our last rainfall was .3 on December 15th. We have been having some of those cold temperatures which I do not like. We just have to keep in mind, the Lord has a reason for all of the seasons.

Boone, A Biography, Robert Morgan -
Particular events define a life that becomes a legend. For George Washington, it was the winter at Valley Forge. For Benjamin Franklin, it began with a key on a kite string. For Daniel Boone, it was finding his way through the wilderness to that narrow mountain gap into Kentucky in 1775, guaranteeing that the nation about to be born would extend to the west.
Born in 1734 in Pennsylvania to English Quaker colonists, Daniel Boone led ...

It’s Sunday and I promise you I have only stuck my nose out of doors to go to church. This kind of weather is good for sleeping and snuggling up with a good book under a warm comforter! My daughter-in-law gave me Joel Osteen’s book for Christmas. Wayne Powell said he read a book about God’s Love that he received for Christmas and he was a different man from this morning’s service.

We have been fortunate to have unseasonably warm weather, but February, March and even early April could bring us some winter storms. What does the school do in case of bad weather and how do the parents and students get notified of school cancellations or late starts? Basically, the type of bad weather event determines the district’s response.
