Christian performance artist Mike Lewis of The Jesus Painter Ministries will be featured as part of “Luke – The Gospel for the Nameless and Faceless.” Mike will be painting live on stage four images of Jesus Christ.
The evening will also feature Margot Truelson of the Christian ballet company, Ballet Magnificat.

Activities are back in full motion after our Christmas break. The junior high teams travelled to Rochelle last week to take on the Hornets. The Lady Indians were defeated, but the Indians were victorious. The high school teams found themselves in a déjà vu situation at Rochelle the following night as the Lady Indians were defeated and the Indians were victorious.

The 57th annual San Saba County Extension Education Council’s Pecan Food Show was held December 7th at the Court House. Eight judges from neighboring counties chose Mable Edmondson’s Pecan Fruit Cake as the Non- Club division Grand Champion. Janice Bates took the Reserve Champion honors with Carter’s Swedish Pecan Cookies.

It was a beautiful day in San Saba as the Community came together for the 12th Annual Thanksgiving Feast at The Father's House.The big event starts days ahead of time with many of the volunteers helping to do promotions, putting together a team of helpers to cook, get the room organized and decorated, lining up volunteers and the many great San Saba dessert providers.

The Board of Trustees of San Saba ISD held a Regular Meeting on Monday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Administration Office. President Kim Kirk called the meeting to order and established a Quorum with all Board members present. Everyone gave the pledges to the American and Texas flags followed by the invocation by Board member Kevin Shahan.
Recognition was given to the STEM Education and Jennifer Osborne, Service Center; and to FCCLA students by the Dove Project.

2012 San Saba County Pecan Show
The San Saba Pecan Growers will sponsor the 2012 County Pecan Show on November 26th and 27th. Entries MUST be in the Courthouse on or before noon November 21st!! You may enter one sample per variety. A sample consists of forty pecans. If you do not know the variety we will make every effort to classify the sample.Processing will begin at 1:00 p.m.

A 16-year drought was ended Friday night with the Indians’ decisive win over the Prairie Lea Indians, securing the 2012 District Championship! The Indians’ started off strong with Burnam Sloan recovering Trey Shan-non’s onside kick to begin the game. The Indians drove the ball and Sloan scored with 8:05 on the clock.

On Saturday morning, November 3rd, Ben Burns, Leander, Texas was the first customer for the 2012 General Season for White-tailed deer at Hibler & Sons Slaughter & Processing in San Saba. Ben hunted 5 miles west of San Saba where he has been hunting for six years. With a Tikka T3 30-06 he shot an 8 point buck at 100 yards and a short time later was surprised to find two cub bobcats and shot them at 15 yards.

The Courthouse Steps Quilters 21st annual quilt show in Goldthwaite was a big success. Quilters from Hawley to Houston, Plainview to Plano, and from all areas in-between were in Goldthwaite this past Saturday for the quilt show.The show consisted of four categories: Antique, Theme, Contemporary and Wall Hanging. There were a total of 94 entries with Joy L.

The San Saba County Pecan Queen will be crowned during the San Saba River Pecan Jam Saturday, October 20th at 2:15 p.m. in Risien Park. Scholarships will be awarded as follows: Miss San Saba Pecan - $1500 & Tiara, 1st Runner up - $500, 2nd Runner up - $250. Dozens of students participated in the See You at the Pole event this past Wednesday. What a beautiful sight to see students of all ages going to different locations on campus, circling up, and praying for their school. Let it be a reminder to all of us that prayer is needed daily for and on our school campuses.

If you did not see this game then you missed a good one. Our young men played like champions. We were able to score on a Dallas Caldwell run and a two point conversion pass from Garrett Welch to John Welch. This would be all that we would need as we won the ball game by the score of 8 to 0.

The San Saba High School Golden Armadillo Band, under the direction of Brian Sours, performed at both the Hill Country Marching Festival in Fredericks-burg and the Hornet Marching Festival at East Central High School in San Antonio. The band is assessed using a standardized rubric that outlines musicianship, marching, tone quality, and various other aspects of marching band.
