Jr High Lady Dillos Basketball Report

The Junior High Lady Dillos traveled to Center Point on January 11th. The 7th and 8th grade Lady Dillos both came home with wins. Eighth grade ended their game with a score of 34-22. Kylee Eckermann ended the game with 20 points. The seventh grade came out on top with a score of 30-5. Kylie Cummings and Courtnee Cash both ended the game with 9 points.

8th Grade Armadillos Tournament Champions move to 13-0 on season

The 8th Grade squad continued their domination on the hardwood with 3 victories this past week. They exalted revenge on a Comfort squad they lost to last year in the first round of the Junction tournament. The game was decided with strong defensive effort from Sean O’Keefe and Rebounding from Jett Hibler. The offensive charge was lead by KJ Simon and Daniel Herrera. The Dillos faced the tournament host in the Championship game and came away victorious by a score of 34-24.

SSHS Cheer competes at UIL State Spirit Championships

The San Saba High School Cheerleaders attended the first ever UIL State Spirit Championships in Arlington, Texas on Thursday, January 14, 2016. The girls competed in a game day style preliminary competition round in three categories: fight song, band dance and crowd-leading cheer.

News From Cherokee ISD

District basketball play began for the Indians last week but before that, the junior high boys and girls both played against Cranfills Gap. The girls were victorious with a final score of 29-16. The boys did not fare as well and lost with a score of 36- 12. The high school boys played in San Saba Tuesday night.

Armadillo Basketball Report

The Armadillos got back into the swing of things last week after a few days off for Christmas. We played in the May Tournament on Dec. 28-30. We struggled offensively in the first two games of the tournament. We played Baird in the first round and only managed 19 points in the game.

JV Lady Dillos win big over Dublin

The JV Lady Dillos travelled north on Saturday, January 2, 2016, to defeat Dublin 56-13. Playing seven strong and all seven scoring, Raley Kirk led the attack with 15 points. Our fearless Point Guard, Hannah Osbourn and strong Post, Kirsten Jimenez also scored double digits with 10 each!

San Saba Middle School Canned Food Drive

The San Saba Middle School Student Council hosted a canned food drive to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas during the last week leading up to the winter break. Each grade level competed to bring in the most nonperishable food cans as a fun and engaging way to help fill our area distribution center with healthy food donations.

7th grade Dillos vs. Mason Punchers

On Monday, December 7, the San Saba 7th grade boys basketball team played the Mason Punchers at home. The young Dillos earned yet another win beating the punchers 48-6. The boys had a somewhat slow start offensively, ending the first quarter with a 5-2 lead. However, the Dillos played great defense, only allowing one basket. Christian Van Bibber, and Eleu Davila led the defensive hustle for the Dillos.
