News From Cherokee ISD

With summer coming to a close, the teachers are busy preparing for the new school year. Last week most of the staff attended the TEKS Resource System State Conference in San Antonio. This is a three day conference that the staff attends each year. It is a time for team building and learning about all the newest ideas in education

Results of the San Saba Tennis Assn Tournament

The 34th Annual San Saba Tennis Association Tournament was held on July 24 – 25. We had 56 players from the following towns come to the tournament this year: Brady, Brownwood, Center Point, Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Lampasas, Llano, Liberty Hill, Lometa, San Saba, Utopia and Wall.

Richland Springs High School students attend theatre camp

On July 5th, 2015, three RSHS students left to attend a two week summer theatre production camp at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Attending the camp were freshman, Cameron Parham, junior, Peyton Sloan, and senior, Madeleine Nettleship. All three students worked for two weeks in advance preparing monologues to present for formal auditions. Parham presented a scene from the musical, Big River and portrayed the part of Huckleberry Finn.

San Saba FAA members attend State Convention

This week members of the San Saba FFA are attending the State Convention in Corpus Christi. Members in attendance include: Drew Daniel, Stone Sealy, Carter Eden, Ernesto Aguirre, Julian Zapata, Mykah McKinnerney, Tristin Reynolds and Makayla Reed. Junior members attending are Grace and Karlee Reed. Chaperones are Connie and Donnie Reed.

San Saba Junior Lady Dillo News

The San Saba Junior Lady Dillos (41-9) will be headed to San Angelo, Texas this Saturday, July 18, to take part in the “End of Summer Invitational” basketball tournament.The Lady Dillos won the consolation bracket of the 2015 San Marcos Regional Tournament on March 22-24, finished second at the “Battle of the All-Stars” tournament held at Veribest, Texas on June 20, and finished second at the “Austin Lady Magic Summer Classic” tournament held at Cedar Park, Texas on June 27.
