The City of San Saba completes renovations to the Recreation Complex

The City of San Saba is pleased to announce the renovations at the San Saba Recreation Complex are complete. Activities such as City Skate Night and Movie in the Park have started again. The renovations to the facility were completed through grant writing assistance from Central Texas Telephone, Inc. and a grant from LCRA's Community Development Partnership Program. Grant funds were used to resurface the gymnasium floor and
make other needed improvements as part of regular maintenance and upkeep of the building.

Lady Dillo Golf Team District Champs

 The Lady Dillo Golf Team won the District 15A Golf Tournament by 118 strokes on Wednesday, April 2 at PAR Country Club in Lake Proctor. Jr., Megan Jennings shot a low round of 77 to win the District Championship. Combined with her 84 from Canyon West the previous week in the First Round of District play, Megan had a total of 161, winning the District Championship by 15  strokes. Fr., Katie Jennings shot a 91 (with a borrowed putter -
thanks Holt!) to win the Bronze Medal in District.

SSHS sending 14 students to Regional UIL Academic Contest in Abilene

On May 3, 2014 SSHS will be taking 14 students to compete in UIL Academic Regional Contest in Abilene. These students achieved top scores at district competition in Goldthwaite last week competing against 10 other
schools in our district. Of the five team events SSHS took 1st place in three of those not to mention the individual medals received

Richland Springs Golf Team heads for Regional Tournament

On Monday, March 24th, the Richland Springs boys and girls travelled to Kerrville and competed in the District 30A golf tournament at Scott Shriner Municipal Golf Course. Brooke Esquivel placed 2nd as a medalist qualifying to compete in the Region 4 tournament. Brooke shot a score of 115

W. Clay Jones, President and CEO of the Commercial National Bank has announced that Aleck Newby has been named Vice President and Branch Manager of Commercial National Bank San Saba. A native of Richland Springs, Newby joined the bank on March 3, 2014.

San Saba had one boy compete this past weekend at the State Power-Lifting Championships in Abilene. Just one week after Andrea Jimenez (2nd) and Erin Sanders (3rd) brought home medals from the girls state meet,

Richland Springs High School One Act Play advances

Richland Springs High School participated in the Zone One Act Play Contest at Brownwood High School on March 19, 2014. Other schools participating were these: Menard, Eden, Lohn, and Rochelle. Richland Springs received
the first place honors with their show, Rabbit Hole.

Cherokee Home for Children holds ground breaking for new cottage

Cherokee Home for Children, located between San Saba and Llano broke ground for a new $1million plus children’s cottage as part of their “Stability First” program. Turning the first shovels of dirt on site are 37 year employee, Nettie Jean Randolph; Board President Bill Belich of Brownwood; two of the children from Cherokee Home, and Executive Director, Delton McGuire. Cherokee Home for Children has been caring for Central Texas children in need since 1958, and is currently home to 28 children. This new cottage is the first new cottage construction in 40 years. Cherokee Home cares for children ages 2-18 and is funded by gifts from Churches of Christ and individuals. Children in need can be placed by parents, guardians, or through state agencies.
