SSISD Teacher/Coach inducted in TSU Athletic Hall of Fame

San Saba ISD is proud to acknowledge the recent induction of SSISD teacher/coach Alicia Cummings in the Tarleton State University Athletic Hall of Fame. Cummings was a four-year letterwinner for the TexAnn tennis team from 2003-06. Cummings was the pinnacle for Tarleton’s success on the tennis court as she helped guide the TexAnns to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight Championships in 2006

Two Dillos compete at Regional Track Meet

Austin McCombs and Ridge Smith competed this past weekend at the regional track meet held in Abilene. Both of these young men have had great track seasons. Austin competed Saturday in the high jump. Although he did
not advance to state, he had a good day, clearing 5’10"

SS Commissioners Court approves Court Appointed Attorney fees

The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, April 28th in the County Judge’s Chambers at 9:00 a.m. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the Court to order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner
Kenley Kroll gave the  invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags

Warrants result in arrests and seizure of drugs and cash

Submitted by San Saba County Sheriff's Office.
 
On Saturday, April 19th, the San Saba Sheriff's Office executed a narcotics search warrant at the Executive Inn in San Saba. As a result of the search warrant, several grams of suspected methamphetamine and cash were seized. One individual was arrested on site with the arrest of more suspects pending. Sheriff Boyd said that this is the third search warrant in the last four months that has been executed; two in San Saba and one in Richland Springs.

San Saba ISD welcomes new Middle School Principal

At the April 14, 2014 San Saba meeting of the School Board of Trustees, the Board named and made official the hiring of Mr. Dave Lewis as the new campus principal for San Saba Middle School. Mr. Lewis is a native of Wall, Texas and has been an educator since 1998.

Local officer injured in auto accident

On Wednesday, April 16th, San Saba Police Department Officer Michael Prado, 31, was seriously injured when his stationary patrol car was struck by another vehicle. Officer Prado was stopped at the intersection of North Mill Street and U.S. Hwy. 190, waiting to turn onto Hwy. 190. While stopped, his vehicle was struck by a vehicle that veered off Hwy. 190, hitting the patrol car.

New Cancer Foundation formed to assist local cancer patients

After several months of planning the NEVER SURRENDER FOUNDATION OF SAN SABA COUNTY has been organized. A group of citizens that have been working with the Relay for Life for several years, decided we needed an organization in San Saba county to raise funds to help local patients with cancer treatments.
