The Texas Historical Commission (THC) honors the San Saba County Historical Commission (CHC) with a Distinguished Service Award for the 2013 year of service. The THC issues Distinguished Service Awards each year to CHCs that demonstrate concerted efforts to preserve the history and character of Texas.

Cherokee celebrated the 4th of July

Cherokee celebrated the 4th of July on Saturday, July 5th with a parade, a wonderful meal of pit cooked burgers and fries and a choice of many homebaked desserts. Games were played on the football field and just after dark, there was a spectacular fireworks show.

San Saba Lodge to meet Saturday Evening

San Saba Masonic Lodge will hold its regular stated monthly meeting on Saturday evening July 5th. A main course meal of brisket and sausage will be provided by Senior Steward  Thomas L. Alston. Supper will begin at 6:30p.m. Members are asked to bring a complimentary covered side dish, bread, salad, or dessert. Masons' ladies and OES members are invited to dine. Everyone is reminded to bring their community service reports for June.

The San Saba County Chamber of Commerce kicked off it’s annual “Go Nuts Bucks” shop local campaign on June 1, 2014. Velma Poe was the June winner of $500.00. She shopped at Lowe’s, and brought in her receipts of $20.00 and over.

The San Saba High School Summer Baseball Team

The San Saba High School Summer Baseball Team has had an outstanding season with a 7-2 record. The boys will compete in the State Baseball Tournament on July 18-19th. Players are Payton Johnson, John Welch, Garrett Welch, Josh Cazares, Holt Oliver, Kadyn Saiz, Mathew Flores, Manuel Martinez, Elisha Cisneroz, and Cole Tupin.

First United Methodist Church of San Saba welcomes new Pastor

On Sunday, June 29th, First United Methodist Church of San Saba will welcome its new pastor, the Reverend John Saint, and his family to their new home in San Saba, TX. Rev. Saint comes to San Saba from First United Methodist Church of Taft, near Corpus Christi, where he served as pastor
