This is Part Three of a five part series on the proposed dam on the Colorado River east of Highway 16 between San Saba and Goldthwaite. Part One described the location and dimensions of the dam as proposed by Mr. and Mrs. O.P. Leonard in the permit application before the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). In summary, the dam would be 20-feet high, span 170 feet, impound 1000 acre-feet of water, and backup for approximately 9 miles. A conservative estimate of the cost based on previous designs is $3 to $6 million dollars.
