Commissioners issue County-Wide Burn Ban

The San Saba County Commissioners Court was held on Monday, January 12th at 9:00 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the Court to order. Commissioner Rickey Lusty gave the invocation followed by everyone  joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags

Speakers and exhibits scheduled for January 18th San Saba County Quilt Show

San Saba Texas will host the San Saba County Quilt Show on Saturday, January 18 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. at various downtown locations. The 2014 theme is “Texas, Our Texas” and will showcase quilts from the following categories: theme, antique, contemporary, wall hanging and art quilts. Entry forms can be downloaded from the San Saba Chamber of Commerce web site, Facebook, through the City of San Saba, or

American Legion to meet Thursday

The veterans of the American Legion, Wiley B. Murray Post No. 27, will hold their quarterly meeting on Thursday, January 9th, 2014 at the Legion Hall in San Saba. The building will be opened at 5:30 P.M. for social
time. Supper will be served at 6:30 P.M. A meal of barbeque chicken, potatoes and red beans will be served

SSHS opens new classes second semester

The start of the second semester brought exciting things to San Saba High School. Two new classes were formed this semester to provide students with the opportunity to experience real world occupations and the opportunity to earn certifications to use in the future.

Texas Family Land Heritage Program honors John (Buddie) and Bettie Oliver

Each year the Texas Family Land Heritage Program honors the families that have land that has been owned and operated continuously by family for 100, 150 and 200 years. John (Buddie) and Bettie Oliver were honored at the program held at the Texas State Capitol on November 7, 2013. Buddie's grandfather, John Thomas Oliver, purchased the land in the Pecan Grove Community in 1909. Also attending were Thomas and Ann Alston and David Williams

Winners of the San Saba County Chamber of Commerce Lighted Christmas Parade

The San Saba County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone for their participation in our Lighted Christmas Parade. We realize the weather didn’t quite cooperate and many fingers,noses and toes were a bit uncomfortable during the wait, but wait you all did with style and grace, thank you for that. We know entering an entry at this time of year is time consuming on  any level, but there you all were, eager to be in the parade and to have some fun.

2013 SSISD Audit Report presented to Board

The Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of San Saba ISD was held Monday, December 9th, at 5:00 p.m., in the Central Administration Office. The meeting was called to order by Board President, Kim Kirk, who established
a quorum with all members present, followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags. Assistant Superintendent, Michael Bohensky, gave the invocation. Elementary Principal, Kay Shackelford, recognized Sheryl Cooper as the Elementary Staff of the Month
