Bertha Griffay of San Saba, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the age of 96. Visitation was held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Heritage Funeral Home. Services were held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in San Saba, Texas. Interment followed at San Saba City Cemetery. Bertha was born in Oklahoma on October 12, 1917 to Clyde and Charlotte Fine. From Oklahoma they traveled as the jobs continued and ended up in San Saba in the mid 1930’s. She married Wesley George Griffay on March 20, 1937 and together they had 3 wonderful daughters; Quiettia, Annagene and Imogene. Bertha owned and operated Griffay’s Antiques for many, many years and continued to do so until her final days. She was always happy and it spread to those around her. She was a member of the Live Oak Community Club. Bertha loved to garden, quilt, paint with oil and especially loved to dance. She truly held the statement true that you are as young as you feel. She was an inspiration to her family and all that surrounded her. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley George Griffay; 1 daughter, Imogene Griffay; 2 brothers and 3 sisters and one great-great grandson: She is survived by 2 daughters, Quiettia Maultsby of San Saba and Annagene Mickelson and husband, Charles of San Angelo; 9 grandchildren: Jean Kiser & husband, Richard, Krystl Rackley, Sherry Krueger and husband, Charles, Kim Locker and husband Mark, Lori Conner and husband, Paul, Kenny Maultsby and Sheli VanBibber, Dr. Chris Mickelson and wife, Elizabeth, and Kerry Mickelson and wife, Mitzi; 18 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Florene Thomas of Roanoke, Texas.
