J.E. Griffin passed away March 31, 2014, in San Saba, Texas at the age of 79. Visitation was Friday evening April 4, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in San Saba. The Funeral Service was held at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, 1901 W. Wallace, San Saba, Texas with Brother Scot Edmondson officiating. Interment followed at the Senterfitt Cemetery in Lometa, Texas. J.E. was born July 22, 1934 in Ashdown, Arkansas to Patrick Henry Griffin and Toxie Bell Carver. J.E. moved to Alvin, Texas when he was around 20 years old. In Alvin, he met Betty Jean Mills and they wed on August 16, 1952. J.E. and Betty Jean lived in Alvin almost 32 years before moving to Lometa, Texas. J.E. was an avid deer hunter, loved fishing and snake hunting and loved going to the Rattlesnake Jubilee every year. He loved watching football and baseball as a past time. J.E. was survived by 6 children, 2 sons, Tommy Griffin and wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville; Dwayne Griffin of Lometa; 4 daughters, Madonna Evans and husband, Skip, of Alvin, Texas; Barbara Mills and husband, John, of Farmerville, Texas; Diane Hart of Lometa and Teresa Harriston of Lometa. 17 grandchildren; Heather Pina, Jason Evans, Shane Mills, B.J. Miles, Stephanie Lyon, Samantha Gentry, Chad Griffin, Justin Hart, Jonathan Hart, Jennifer Hart, A.J.  Norwood, D.F. Norwood, Nina Griggs, Austin Harriston, Ashley Harriston, Jessica Griffin and Holly Griffin; 41 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild on the way. One sister, Joy Bunn of Texarkana, Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews. J.E. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 7 brothers and sisters.
