James Lynn Ward

James Lynn Ward, better known as “Jimmy,” went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2014 in Goldthwaite, Texas at the age of 79. He was born March 4, 1935 to Lynn C. Ward and Mae Maline Johnston Ward in San Saba, Texas.
Jimmy was a life long resident of San Saba and loved the outdoors, being an avid fishermanand hunter. In his past time he enjoyed working on firearms. Many know him from the San Saba Hardware & Furniture store before he opened the store that he called “Jimmy Ward’s Shop,” where friends and family would come to see a friendly face and have a casual conversation on the bus bench seats at the door. Jimmy was a retired member of the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department, past member of the San Saba Junior Chamber of Commerce, a life member of the NRA & the TSRA, a member of the San Saba Rotary Club and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Saba. Most of all, Jimmy loved spending time hunting or fishing. Jimmy is survived by his three sons, David Ward and wife, Debra of Mullin, Ted Ward of Midland and Wesley Ward of Gardendale, Texas; eight grandchildren, Michael Ward, Neil Ward, Ryan Ward, Dawn Ward, Levon Ward, Will Ward, Travis Hall, and one very special granddaughter, Kimberley Gray, who took above and beyond care of him daily at the Goldthwaite Health & Rehab Center; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joycelyn McRorey of San Saba and Barbara Sloan of Coppell, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Lynn and Mae Maline Ward, and a great many old and dear friends. Graveside Service was held on Sunday March 23, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the San Saba Cemetery in San Saba, Texas. Memorials can be made to the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department, the San Saba Rotary Club or the San Saba Junior Chamber of Commerce. Arrangements are under the Direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of San Saba, Texas.
