Jacqueline Joyce (Small) Karrais, 81, of Rochelle, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013, in Rochelle. Visitation was held from 6 -7 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, followed by a Rosary service from 7
– 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady. Th funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brady with burial following at Rochelle Cemetery Jacqueline was born on  May 28, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to James W. Small and Mary Edna (Shear) Small. She married Paul Franz Karrais on November 13, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ontario Canada. She had lived in Rochelle for 37 years, having moved the family here from Arizona in 1976. Jacqueline was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brady.  Jacqueline was a multi-talented person with many interests. She had an interest in law and was studying law in college before getting married. She was quite knowledgeable about construction and electrical work and also enjoyed ranching – she loved her cattle. She had a great love of the land and tried to instill this love into her children and grandchildren. Jacqueline was also quite the gardener, and enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She loved trees and, over the years, had planted numerous trees on their land in Rochelle. Her wish would be for anyone to honor her memory by planting a tree in her name. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Christopher Karrais and John Karrais, and one daughter, Mary Edna Solis.
Survivors include one son, Paul Karrais of Rochelle, one daughter, Jackie Hickl of Blessing, Texas; two grandsons, John Paul Solis of Lubbock and John Hickl of Blessing; and one granddaughter, Joyce Hickl of Blessing.
