Weekend rains helpful, but not drought buster

The widespread rains that fell across much of the lower Colorado River basin Friday and Saturday raised lake levels in the Highland Lakes, but were not enough to break the drought. "This rain fell in the right spots to help the lakes, but the ground is so dry, a lot of it soaked in," LCRA General manager Becky Motal said. "But even so, we're seeing good inflows into the Highland Lakes and we expect to see the numbers continuing to go up for a few more days. It's not a drought buster, but it's definitely welcome."
