I’ve decided to make no resolutions this year. I don’t know when I first started making those pesky things, but at 76 it should have been more than enough to fix many issues. I’m not skinnier, prettier, healthier, or younger. All those years of trying to better myself have brought nothing. There is only one thing that has made significant changes to me and that is the love of Jesus and my life with and through Him. If I’m good enough for Him, then I’m good enough. No goals, no resolutions; only a growing love for the miracle of salvation through Christ. That makes this 2024 a year of promise.

Although we are on Christmas break, the basketball teams have all been busy. I’m pleased to say they are all on a healthy winning streak. The girls teams will be playing January 2nd at San Antonio. The boys will play at Lohn on the 4th, and the girls will play again on the 5th at Rochelle. The boys will play on the 6th at Bangs.

Mondo Garcia is home after spending a few days in the hospital. He is a mainstay in this community, and we want him to stay healthy. Shannon Barclay Norris is in the hospital undergoing a procedure to restore her to health. I’ve heard of several people suffering from post-covid issues. That ugly disease continues to haunt many. The vacs or no vacs controversy will last for years as new complications arise.

There are many sick people in our community that need our prayers.

Please pray for our government, our country, our elections, and our overburdened border personnel. For the moment, we are perceived as being indecisive, but I’m confident we will rise to any threat that is directed at our citizens. I must admit the images of thousands of military-aged men from enemy countries is disturbing, but we are more than capable of handling threats.

Praise God for the recent rains. Hopefully, 2024 will bring sufficient rain to restore our dry lands.

Happy New Year, everyone. May God protect our country and our precious troops and their families.
