The Richland Springs Report

Life seems to be flying by with me trying to keep up.

It’s the month of October and the holiday season is right around the corner. My son called from Tennessee to see if we could do Thanksgiving the week before since they will be in town that week. Of course, I said yes, but now I need to start arranging things. I’m not ready for this. Oh well, let the good times roll.

My grandson John participated in his first strong man contest. He has spent the last year in the gym. Although he did not win, he did place second in the lift event. He placed 6th in a field of 19, according to his proud mom Chrissy Baker.

The football team traveled a great distance to play the Burkville Mustangs. The game was carried on sansabaradio.com. I didn’t get hooked up in time, but it appears it was a good game. The Coyotes managed to forty-five the Mustangs, but not until the third quarter. Congratulations to all, including Mr. Womack who drove and the parents who went all that distance.

The junior high girls are going to Mullin on Tuesday, and the high school team will be in Lometa on Wednesday. High school cross country will be at the Mason Golf Course Wednesday. Junior high football plays Thursday, and the high school game is Friday against Cherokee. The volleyball team will have games against Zephyr on the weekend. We like to keep them busy in Richland Springs.

Arlene and Walter Stratton had homemade beans, cornbread, and ham for sale on Saturday; I heard they had a good crowd. Sunday, the Preservation Society had a good turn out for a pancakes and sausage breakfast fundraiser. As usual, Frank Pearce and family cooked up some amazing pancakes. Several other Preservation Society members stayed around to help.

The National Night Out was held this last Tuesday. Also on Tuesday was Baylor Scott & White mobile blood drive at San Saba's First Baptist Church.

Once again, we have a long list of community prayer needs. We had a positive report for Jeremy Young, but his dad Carl needs prayer. Vicky Moreno is still fighting cancer, but treatment seems to be going well. Johnny Reeves started chemo and needs our prayers. We need prayers for our country, our government, the endless political bickering, and a secure border. A little cooperation from both political parties would be helpful. Please pray for our police, firemen, and EMT personnel. Most of all, pray for our precious troops and their families.
