The Richland Springs Report

I’m happy to say my road to the house is a complete mess. I was on the phone with Chrissy when she said - there’s a big storm coming, I need to get some stuff done. Sure enough, the radar showed this big red mess coming towards Richland. I called Russ a few minutes later, and the sound was thunderous and beautiful. Praise God for that rich blessing. There are big ruts and wash outs on the road, but I’m willing to drive a bumpy road if it is caused by heavy rains.

It rained every day in Fredericksburg. The Cherry Spring Retreat is a marvelous place for quilting. Everything is so open and clean and specifically designed for quilters. Sarah has met every need that a quilter could have. We booked the only week open for next year. She was also booked for most of 2025, so we booked that year as well.

There is room for nine people, but we only had six. Retreats are a unique experience. We work very hard, but we trade ideas, fabrics, and stories. I come back exhausted but refreshed, if that makes sense.

This will be week six for me at school. Coach Ethridge has serious health issues and cannot work until he is cleared by the doctor. I am enjoying the interactions with the students, but I must admit I’m very tired at the end of the day. As much as I love teaching, I’m ready to stay home. Working every day is cramping my activities.

Chrissy and I are trying to restore the lower bank room, and I have a trip to Canada planned that may not happen. The bottom line is the kids. They are the most important factor in this issue. Fortunately, I love history, government, and geography. I’ve lived through quite a chunk of that history and covered big portions of our planet.

Events for this week include volleyball games on Monday and Tuesday, JV football on Thursday, and cross country on Friday. Football will be on Friday against Coolidge HS, and the ladies will be at Harper for varsity and junior varsity volleyball on Friday as well. This week is Freedom Week. It looks like a very busy week.

The Shiloh Ladies Fellowship will be Thursday, September 28, at 2:00 p.m.All community ladies are welcome. Sandy Reed tells me they will be planning their trip to the Promise. She asks that those attending bring their favorite Bible hero to share.

The Quilting and Bible study at First Baptist is open to all. The ladies will be studying Max Lucado’s book, Anxious for Nothing. This year’s project is a reasonably easy quilt. Come and join the ladies every Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. My new quilt is very peaceful, unlike the majority of my other vibrant quilts. It's a change of pace.

Praise for the rain and prayer for our sick friends and neighbors are needed. My media is flooded with election material, and there are new cards every day for candidates for election. I pray that I can discern where to place my vote. Platforms are very important as well, so please do your research. We also have amendments coming up this November. The paper had information last week. Please pray for our government, our borders, our economy, and our law enforcement personnel. Most of all pray for our precious troops and their families. Have a blessed week.
