Well, HOWDY from Bend! I appreciate everyone's patience this last year. I am at a point now in my life where I can continue with writing the Bend News.

Brother and sister, Josh and Madison Henniger, were injured in an accident on Sunday, April 21st. They were lighting a brush fire when the fumes escaped them and upon ignition there was a flash explosion. Josh was sent via ambulance, and Madison was air flighted to Dell in Austin. Josh suffered 2nd degree burns on 25% of his body, while Madison suffered from 2nd degree burns on 40% of her body. Josh has since been released from the hospital and healing slowly. Madison is still in the hospital with the hope of going home by the end of the week. Please keep Josh and Madison (kids of Pete Henniger), along with the Henniger family in your thoughts and prayers.

In other news, everyone seems to be enjoying the spring weather as the parks are doing well. Barefoot Fishing Camp has the following to report “Michael & I had HUGE eclipse turn out with over 17 states and countries from Belgium, Canada, Germany, and Sweden. Right at 1,000 people here. We had vendors and people everywhere. They were the nicest people we’ve ever met! Not one issue with the whole group. As they were leaving, each one stopped and gave us a gift. Alaskan group gave us fresh caught salmon, Colorado group honey & wine. It was absolutely wonderful!”

Colorado Bend reported selling out of tickets in four minutes for the eclipse.
